As Election Day approaches, we wanted to take a look back at the intersection of cigars and politics throughout history.

This interesting article from Cigars.com touches on Winston Churchill and the Cuban cigar ban, among other topics. Here’s one passage from the article:

“Very possibly (and in hindsight), the Cuban cigar ban was the greatest thing politicians could have done for the cigar industry. Here’s a theory, when you tell people that have the money to buy something that they can’t buy it, they desire it all the more. The embargo forced a focused attention on fine cigars and created a demand for a product as close as possible to what was previously available.
